Infant Formula and the China Market Seminar – 21 August, 2014

On Thursday 21 August, the Infant Nutrition Council (INC) in partnership with the Australia China Business Council (ACBC) hosted a morning tea seminar and Q&A on exporting Australian produced infant formula into China.

Last year Australia exported nearly 4,000 tonnes of infant formula to China, worth $76 million AUD. With these numbers set to continue rising in 2014, Australia is well placed to deliver a clean, premium product to the Chinese market. Maintaining this clean and safe reputation, meeting a rapidly growing demand and understanding changing regulations for exporting to China are some of the challenges that face the infant nutrition sector.

Delegates heard case studies from INC CEO Jan Carey, GrainCorp Foods Group General Manager Sam Tainsh, and infant formula researchers Dr Xueqin Du of Farmland Dairy and Annie Guo of Michiko Dairy Australia. Participants joined in on the panel discussion and Q&A with these industry leaders and learn how Australian producers are successfully exporting infant formula to China.
